What you’ll want to ask.
Who owns the code and the IP?
You do, from day one. I commit to your repository. The engagement contract transfers all intellectual property to you.
Whose cloud does it run in?
Yours. I work in your AWS, Google, or Azure account using your credentials. The cloud bill is your bill. The data never leaves your tenant.
What about my data security?
Your customer data stays in your cloud. The AI sees only what is needed for the task and only what you approve. We sign an NDA before any data touches the engagement.
How much does AI consulting cost for a small business in Australia?
There is no fixed price list. The first 30-minute call is free, the audit and blueprint is a fixed-scope piece over 1 to 2 weeks, and a build is a fixed price agreed before any work starts, usually across 4 to 12 weeks. You are never billed by the hour, and you can stop after the blueprint.
How long does an AI project take?
The first call is 30 minutes. The audit and blueprint takes 1 to 2 weeks, and a fixed-scope build runs 4 to 12 weeks depending on what we are building. After handover you own the source and your team runs it, with 30 days of questions answered at no charge.
Should we build AI or buy an off-the-shelf tool?
Buy when an off-the-shelf tool already does the job well. Building something custom only pays off when the problem is specific to your business or your data. On the first call I will tell you honestly which one fits, and if buying is the better answer I will say so.
Which AI tools do you use?
Whichever fits the problem. OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, Hugging Face, open-source models. I am not on commission from anyone. Vendor-neutral.
Is this for my size of business?
Small and mid-sized Australian businesses, typically 5 to 200 staff. If you are smaller, we can still talk. If you are enterprise, you probably want a bigger firm.
What can AI not do?
Anything you cannot define a clear measurable outcome for. If you cannot tell me what success looks like by the end of the call, I will say so and not start.
